| Model Rocket Part Review : FlisKits BT-60 Baffle Kit |
|
This baffle kit can be used as a coupler tube when building a new rocket. It can also be used with existing rockets or with those who don't use a tube coupler. For those cases, simply glue the ejection baffle into the body tube, close to the nose cone. Be sure to leave enough space for the parachute or streamer.
The image on the right shows both BT-60 and a BT-55 baffle kits, which are sold separately.
| |
The main benefit of these Fliskits baffles is that they also serve as a shock cord mount and come complete with Kevlar shock cord. This is very convenient, to say the least.
Parts List
The kit is sold with all parts required to build one baffle for a BT-60 body tube.
- lower and upper baffle rings
- tube coupler
- Kevlar shock cord
- instruction sheet
To build the kit, all you need is a ruler, pencil and some (white or wood) glue. Epoxy can be used instead of glue, at the cost of adding some weight.
Construction
|
First, tie a double knot near one end of the shock cord. Thread it through the lower baffle plate and apply a bead of glue to keep it in place securely.
Glue the lower baffle ring 1/8" inside one end of the tube coupler. The image on the right shows this part of assembly.
| |
Now, glue the other ring 1/8" into the other side of the coupler, while lining up the shock cord slots.
Instructions are provided on how to install the baffle into a new or existing flying model rocket.
Field Testing
This baffle kit was used in the Fliskits Tres three engine cluster rocket.
