Rocketry Gear Review : Hi Volume Foot Pump by Air Master

When it comes to water/air rocketry, the air pump it your most important tool. It will determine the effort needed to launch a rocket, and possibly the height of the flight.

For rocketeers with weaker arms (like kids) a foot pump is a great alternative to a hand-held device. The same is true for those with medical conditions which can make hand pumps uncomfortable or difficult to use.

Foot Pump

Features

    - foot pump
    - easy-to-read gauge
    - hose with quick-release stem fitting
    - 2 adapters (sport ball needle & inflatables)

No assembly is required. This 100 psi bicycle pump is ready-to-launch water and air rockets, right away.

Pros

It performs very well, especially considering the low cost. You'll be sending your rocket skywards with far less effort required by many hand operated air pumps.

The pedal can be locked to the pump to further reduce the little storage space it consumes.

Cons

For some launches, the 100 psi (700 kpi) maximum pressure may not be sufficient. High altitude launches with the Air Burst system, for example, can require more power.

While these foot pumps are great for water rocketry, they appear to break faster than most hand-held units. We've broken two of them so far, they simply stopped pumping out air.
