When you scratch-build (or repair) a rocket, you can buy parts, or make your own. Whenever it makes sense, I prefer to build my own. Building parts can also be more rewarding than simply buying them. Or, when time is of the essence, building a part is much faster than waiting for a ready-made part to arrive. Experience often results in better parts. Don't always expect to get it right the first time. Take your time and don't hesitate to start over if you don't like how a part turned out. Remember, using inferior parts could have serious safety ramifications. Obviously, you do not want to put yourself, or others, at risk.
