Parts List As is the case for most model rockets, the kit is sold in a bag with a colorful face card. The balsa parts were good quality parts.
- balsa transition (with hook) and nose cone - 3 balsa fins (pre-cut) - launch lug - parachute assembly - shock cord - decals and assembly instructions No special tools or supplies needed to build this one, some glue will do the trick. Construction
I made a bad mistake while building the rocket. I glued the launch lug onto the body tube before attaching the fins. The launch lug lined up perfectly with one of the fins. This made it so it couldn't slide onto the launch rod. Sadly, this didn't become obvious until after the rocket was already painted and loaded up with engines. It was flown from a tower that day. Most likely, I've remove the unfortunatly located launch lugs and attach new ones. Measurements The Seiron 3 is 26.25" long and the lower body tube has a diameter of 1.6". The face card lists no estimated weight. Without motors, this one came in at 3.2 oz.
Finishing After a coat or two a grey primer and a coat of white primer, the Seiron 3 was ready for paint. Rust-Oleum gloss white and sunrise red were selected to match the color scheme on the face card. The decals haven't been applied yet, that will be done once the launch lug issue (see above) is corrected.
Flight Data Starlight lists a number of suggested motors. As this is a cluster rocket, three of the same motors should be used for each flight. The motors listed ar : A6-4, A8-3, B6-6m and C6-7. The first went went perfectly on a combo of 3x C6-7. Very straight boost, out of sight. The parachute was replaced with a streamer and the model rocket was recovered fairly closely to the pads.
