| Rocket Part Review : Ejection Baffle Series #13 by Semroc Astronautics |
|
Baffle kits are used to catch ejection particles and cool down ejection gases. This
eliminated the need for recovery wadding and protects your model rocket's parachute or streamer.
The main advantages of the Series #13 baffle kit by Semroc is the super low price and the low weight. At the time of writing, it costs only $1.50. This size Semroc baffle kit fits BT-55 body tubes.
The disadvantage is that this baffle, unlike many others, can not be used as a coupler tube. This doesn't apply for rockets where no coupler tube is used.

Parts List
This ejection baffle kit comes in a small plastic bag with an ID card. There are no instructions.
- fiber sheet with laser-cut baffle discs and midsection

Construction
While no instructions are included, assembling this Semroc baffle kit is quick and easy.
|
Start by cutting the three baffle pieces out of the fiber sheet with a hobby knife.
There are two discs (lower disc on the left) and one middle part.
During assembly, be sure not to get any glue (or epoxy) in the circular holes. You do not want to obscruct, nor fill, them.

|
The middle section is folded, on the lines, and inserted and glued between the two discs.
The lines on the midsection have already been scored, there's no need to do anything to them, other than fold.
Let the glue dry fully and your baffle is ready.
To use the ejection baffle, simply glue it into a rocket's body tube.

Try to glue it as close to the nose cone as possible, while leaving ample space to put the parachute or streamer.
